Kampfgruppe Haase: Enlistment Guidelines
If you're interested in joining the Kampfgruppe, new recruit, read on:

Why Reenact?

WW2 reenacting is a great hobby to get involved in. We as a unit strive to be as accurate as possible in our manner, attire and tactics in the field for reenacting/tactical events and during public displays. Our members come from areas all around South Eastern Canada and the Northern USA. We currently have a membership of over 50 people. Below you will find some basic instructions on Membership and Standards, for joining the Kampfgruppe:

Sponsorship/New Recruits:
Recruits must be at least 16 years of age. All new recruits must be sponsored by an existing Kampfgruppe member in good standing. Kampfgruppe Haase will either supply the new recruit with an appropriate sponsor- based on geographical location/unit designation or other criteria- if the new recruit is not introduced to the Kampfgruppe by an existing member. Racist, or Extreme right wing attitudes will not be tolerated in the Kampfgruppe.

To be approved by the Kampfgruppe, all new recruits must attend 4 Kampfgruppe approved events, and have a complete impression (uniform and equipment) before induction into the Kampfgruppe- your Sponsor and Gruppenführer will help you with instructions on the kit required for your specific group. During the recruit's 4 probationary events, the sponsor is responsible for: Kit Inspection and Questions (to aid in the proper acquisition of the impression); Disciplinary Measures, Adherence to Unit Standards (Behaviour, Attitude, Safety Issues, Questions related to the Kampfgruppe). The sponsor is a direct link to the Kampfgruppe for the Recruit, therefore relieving the Gruppe of common questions and queries, enforcing the chain of command. In the field or at events during the probationary period, the Sponsor is responsible for the recruit, at all times, and when deemed not practical, the sponsor may (at Gruppenführer's permittance), assign the Recruit to another full time member. Recruits are prohibited from sponsoring a new Recruit until their own probationary period has ended. New Recruits may be dismissed from the Kampfgruppe at any time without notice, during the probationary period. If the Recruit is dismissed, he or she must restart the process of probation. Full Members in good standing may only sponsor one Recruit at a time.

If you would like to inquire into joining us please send an email to us and we will get you started on the process of joining the Kampfgruppe!  Once you are in contact with the Kampfgruppe we will get you in contact with a member in your area where you can further discuss joining us and acquiring your kit.  E-mails will be answered promptly.

Rank Structure:
New Recruits are forbidden any rank as well as decorations (military or otherwise) unless awarded or approved by Kampfgruppe leadership. All recruits enter in the probationary period as Privates (Schutze/Grenadier). Promotions in rank are applied by Kampfgruppe leadership according to unit size based on German Army Order of Battle. Special cases may designate approval of promotion, at leadership discretion.

Responsibility:
Due to the possibility of public misconception of Second World War reenacting, please do not wear your uniform to or from Kampfgruppe attended events. We also ask that while in attendance of said events, that the uniform not be worn offsite under any circumstances.

Personal Appearance:
Clean-shaven, regulation hair cut, nails trimmed and clean, and bathed; an overall neat appearance. Any tattered clothing or gear should be repaired correctly.

Fees:
There is a $20 annual fee to retain membership. Certain events also require a 'gate fee' to attend, all fees are due at the beginning of the calendar year or at the beginning of events

Health & Safety:
All Recruits and Full members must be physically fit for your own and other members of the group's safety. New recruits must be in good physical shape to be able to carry their own gear for the duration of the day, in any weather or terrain. Physical fitness is an extremely important issue- this is a very physical activity and we have had people unable to make it more than 5 minutes into the woods, its a very long wait for us to return to the parking lot if you can't lug around 35Kg's of gear for many kilometres over the course of 8 hours and we will not make any exceptions to those who cannot make muster. There is also no hand-to-hand combat permitted and bayonets are forbidden to be fixed to rifles.

Firearms:
New recruits must have acquired their POL/PAL license for appropriate firearms if the Recruit will be using weaponry of any type. Safety courses are strongly urged, and, in some cases, may be deemed mandatory (as well as proof of PAL/POL), for new recruits. All firearms laws are strictly adhered to, and violation of any law by a new recruit or full member is grounds for immediate dismissal from the unit. Any firearms transported to and from Kampfgruppe events shall be done so in accordance to Canadian Firearms law, and any required paperwork needed for such, is the responsibility of the Kampfgruppe member. Posession of any illegal firearms or weaponry is basis for immediate and irrevocable dismissal from the group.

Building Your Impression:
Please take the time to look at the information on 'Unit Standards' to see what you will be expected to purchase to create your German soldier impression.  Do not buy anything until you have been in contact with a member of the unit or your Sponsor to help guide you on where you should acquire the different parts of your kit to ensure it is authentic looking and approved by the Kampfgruppe! You will not be expected to be kitted out at your first event, most of our members have more than one of parts of the kit and we all have more than enough to lend you what you need for your first event and we recommend you do this. If you need extra kit, it is advised that you acquire this well before an event that it is required for. Trying us out first will help you decide if this hobby is right for you before you go ahead and purchase all your kit. Everyone always has a ride in our unit, we have members from Quebec city all the way into Central Ontario and down to Buffalo, we love to car pool so transportation wont be an issue, please make sure advance arrangements are made.
